Abstract:

Information is provided in tabulated form on the demographic effect of female sterilization in Bangladesh and Thailand, including:

1) age distribution of female sterilization acceptors at time of operation: Thailand and Bangladesh;

2) total number of births averted by female sterilization under various assumptions of growth in the annual number of new acceptors: Bangladesh;

3) total number of births averted by female sterilization under various assumptions of growth in the annual number of new acceptors: Thailand;

4) number of births averted per sterilization acceptor by age group and number of years after sterilization: Bangladesh;

5) number of births averted per sterilization acceptor by age group and number of years after sterilization: Thailand;

6) ratio of potential fertility of sterilized women 10 years after sterilization: Thailand and Bangladesh;

7) comparison of births averted 1976-1985 if sterilization acceptors had used pill or IUD: Bangladesh;

8) comparison of births averted 1976-1985 if sterilization acceptors had used pill or IUD: Thailand;

9) number of births averted by sterilization among acceptors with current age distribution and hypothetical younger distribution: Bangladesh;
